TERESA L. (NEW JERSEY, USA)

My name is Teresa, I'm 52, and I just finished radiation treatment for a rare form of breast cancer at Sloan Kettering in Basking Ridge, NJ.

I received 20 treatments for my cancer. It was a challenging time for many reasons. There were good days and hard days. There were days I heard others ring the bell and I had tears of joy for them, those were good days. I knew I would have my day eventually.

On day 19 the technicians told me I could have someone there to watch me ring the bell. So the next day my husband drove me for my last treatment. I was overwhelmed with emotion. After my treatment was completed, the technicians played the song Celebration, clapped and we even danced around for a moment! (I call them Earth angels). I changed into my clothes while the team gathered my husband. I tried to read the inscription out loud, but cried and was not able to get the words out. This was a moment I will never forget. I cried, the entire department clapped and cheered. I did it!!!! I completed radiation!!! I hugged them all and just felt the deepest gratitude!

Thank you for donating this bell. I Will remember that moment with love in my heart forever. I'm crying now just thinking about that emotional day!.
